Meteor Crater is a great place to stretch your legs if you're on the road between Flagstaff and Winslow, Arizona. You can even spend the night at the motel or RV park. Meteor Crater isn't exactly a vacation destination, but insiders know it's a must see attraction in the middle of nowhere.
If your travel plans include the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, or Petrified Forest, then you should also check out Meteor Crater. The visitors center has lots of cool exhibits. The entrance fee is a little higher than some other museums/attractions because Meteor Crater is privately owned and not subsidized by government funding. They also have a nice sandwich shop, so Meteor Crater is a perfect lunch stop if you're on a road trip between the Petrified Forest and the Grand Canyon. Take the insiders advice and don't do this for lunch in the middle of summer because you'll fry like an egg on the hot rocks. But spring and fall are ideal times to visit for humans. On the other hand, visitors from outer space can probably handle the summer heat.
